Ready Set Goat Fund

In 2022, Impact Charitable made a grant through the Ready Set Goat Fund, which has a mission to support a regenerative alternative for land reclamation and weed/invasive control, in many cases, using ecologically prescribed animal grazing for land restoration and management of introduced species of plants, to our partner Fat and Sassy Goats. In their recent report, they shared that the grant helped them provide more than 200 hours of education on environmental solutions to more schools, local land trusts, municipalities, and conservation commissions.

Jen Balch, co-founder “The predominant paradigm for managing aggressive regional weeds such as mugwort has been repeated applications of glyphosate, which has been scientifically linked to increase risk of cancer. Other plants, such as Japanese knotweed, are often adjacent to fresh water sources, and again are thought to only be addressable by herbicide application. Through this grant, educating community organizations about goat grazing for weed control, we believe that we have inspired land managers to think differently about what is possible and to shift from the default approach of toxic herbicides”
