What impact looks like

Impact Charitable investors come together to fund Black women entrepreneurs
Our philanthropists and funders know that conventional tools alone can’t solve some of society’s most intractable problems, like the persistent capital gaps caused by racial discrimination. To help solve for this systemic inequity, four Impact Charitable DAF holders came together through an integrated capital investment—part grant, part loan—to fund Black women entrepreneurs in Denver.
In this case study, you’ll meet two of the business owners and learn more about what we do to invest in our community.
HIGHLIGHTS
> $70,000 integrated capital investment
> Pooled funds of 4 Impact Charitable investors
> Hybrid model covers admin costs as well as start-up capital
> Grant allows for more equitable character-based lending
> Co-created with CEDS and Sistahbiz
Despite institutionalized disadvantages, Black women are spearheading business growth in the United States. Impact Charitable investors took a hybrid approach to facilitate greater impact than grants alone.

CReaTIVE TOOLS IN ACTION
OUR APPROACH TO IMPACT
Our why
Impact Charitable is a community of active investors—of people who want more than just a philanthropic tax break or a passive parking lot for funds. We unite our investors’ assets, appetite for risk, and creative thinking with a host of community partners, financial institutions, foundations, social enterprises, and governmental bodies.
As a connector and strategic partner, we put our investors’ boldest ideas into action. Explore portfolio or contact us to see how we can partner.
Our tools
Our team utilizes a wide variety of financial tools to create change, but the most common vehicle is a Donor Advised Fund (DAF). In most cases, DAFs are the best way for our investors to mobilize their assets quickly. While DAFs are a conventional philanthropic tool, we do not think about them conventionally. An Impact Charitable DAF is an active vehicle for change—not a passive parking lot for funds.
